The body scan is a particular kind of formal MBSR practice that helps you bring awareness to the body to train your innate attentional capacities, including your ability to direct, sustain, and shift attention. This involves increasing the ability to notice when the mind has wandered off task and strengthening the capacity to disengage and return to the intended object of focus.Â
